Meet the Basketball Coach!
Hello, I’m Torrell Martin. I’m a 36-year-old retired pro athlete and former Mr. Basketball for South Carolina. I chose Winthrop University as a junior in high school because I believed in their mission and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and Psychology. I led my college team to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
After college, I signed a free-agent deal with the Orlando Magic, then continued my career in Europe—playing and traveling to over 30 countries including Spain, France, Germany, Greece, and Turkey. Competing internationally taught me invaluable lessons about culture and character. I retired in 2015 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame the following year.
Afterward, I founded HOFTrain, a training company focused on sharing the “Formula” for success on and off the court. I’m a man of faith, blessed with two sisters and loving parents who instilled strong values that guide me today. Despite six knee surgeries, I’ve continued to give back to the game that gave me so much. Now, I own my own gym and developed an app to help kids unlock their potential—proving there’s no cap on success when you know you’ve been chosen for greatness.
